SMS Sender ID Registration Requirements (ACMA Compliance)
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has introduced new compliance requirements for businesses using alphanumeric SMS Sender IDs in Australia.
These industry changes are designed to improve SMS security and help reduce scam and impersonation messages.
As part of this initiative, SMS Sender IDs must now be registered and approved through ACMA Assist.
How the Process Works
To assist our customers, we will submit Sender ID registration requests on your behalf through our messaging provider, MessageMedia.
After submission:
- Registration details are reviewed and forwarded to ACMA
- ACMA sends an approval request via ACMA Assist to the authorised representative/contact person registered for the business
- Once approved, the Sender ID becomes verified and active
Important Information
The ACMA Assist approval request will be sent to the contact details currently recorded on your account with us. Please ensure the authorised contact person is aware and monitors their inbox for the approval email from ACMA Assist.

About the SMS Sender ID Register (ACMA)
Why This Is Important
Unregistered Sender IDs may display as “Unverified” on recipient devices, which may reduce customer confidence and message recognition.
As registration approvals may take several business days, we encourage customers to complete the approval process as soon as possible.
